The Most Comprehensive Children’s Hospital System in West Texas
UMC Children’s Hospital, part of the Children’s Miracle Network , has served our region’s children since 1978 with a mission of service to kids and their families. The hospital has grown to meet the expanding need for comprehensive and holistic pediatric care. UMC Children’s delivers over 30 pediatric specialists and state-of-the-art facilities. Each floor of our newly renovated facility is designed to provide the finest care:
- First Floor: Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
- Second Floor: Newborn Care
- Third Floor: Pediatric Floor and Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
- Fourth Floor: Pediatric Operating Rooms, Gastrointestinal (GI) Labs, and Procedural Area.

UMC Children’s Hospital is also home to the region’s most sophisticated trauma recovery facility, earning top designations and awards for its capability of dealing with the most serious children’s trauma cases.
Level 1 Trauma Center and Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center
As a Level I Trauma Center, UMC has a fully trained team of staff members in all areas of the hospital ready to respond and care for trauma patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Our partnership with Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center ensures our 20-bed Trauma and Surgical ICU is staffed with surgeons to provide surgical care for the injured patient, including:

- critical care coverage
- burn surgeons
- neurosurgery
- vascular surgery
- plastic surgery
- facial trauma
Region’s Only Verified Burn Center
Burn Center verification provides a true mark of distinction for a burn center. Verification is an indicator to the government, third-party payers, patients, families, and accreditation organizations that the center provides high-quality patient care to burn patients from the time of injury through rehabilitation.
