UMC Children’s Hospital is a Pediatric Level 2 Trauma Center, which means we’ve met rigorous industry standards and benchmarks for emergency care. Dedicated exclusively to caring for kids, our pediatric emergency clinic has more resuscitation and trauma rooms than any facility in West Texas. We also have the region’s only verified burn center for children.

Our certification as a level 2 trauma center means you can expect a full range of pediatric medical emergency services, including psychiatric and verified burn care. We’re also home to the region’s most sophisticated trauma recover facility, earning top designations and awards for our ability to deal with the most serious of pediatric trauma cases.
Surgeons Across All Pediatric Subspecialties
Our skilled and compassionate team from UMC and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center provide round-the-clock care, including coverage by general surgeons, anesthesiologists, radiologists and trauma specialists. Should your child need it, you’ll also have prompt access to surgeons who specialize in burn, orthopedic, neurological, plastic, vascular and maxillofacial surgery.
Pediatric Readiness
Children have unique medical needs that require specialized care. That’s why we ensure our policies and medication protocols reflect best practices in pediatric emergency care. As a comprehensive children’s hospital of Texas, UMC Children’s Hospital is proud to participate in the National Pediatric Readiness Project (NPRP). This initiative empowers hospitals to provide the highest quality emergency department care for children.
Pediatric Urgent Care
For immediate medical needs that don’t require emergency care, including minor injuries and burns, common illnesses and allergies, our urgent care clinic at Kings Park offers convenient—and immediate— care.
Our Location
The Children’s Emergency Center is located on the ground floor of UMC Children’s Hospital. We’re open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
