Our NICU Facilities
In the NICU
As a unique benefit of our association with the Texas Tech University Health Science Center, our neonatologists provide around-the-clock care.
Other professionals involved in your baby’s care in the NICU may include:
⦁ Case managers to answer your questions about insurance and Medicaid
⦁ Chaplains to provide spiritual support for families of all faiths
⦁ Dietitians to help your baby get the proper nutrition they need to grow
⦁ Lactation professionals to help you with nursing your baby
⦁ Neonatal nurses, who specialize in caring for newborns
⦁ Occupational therapists to provide support for your baby’s physical development
⦁ Pediatric surgeons and specialists to provide specialty and surgical care
⦁ Pharmacists to prepare, distribute and monitor medications
⦁ Psychologists to care for your family’s emotional and psychological needs
⦁ Respiratory therapists to care for your baby’s airway
⦁ Social workers to help you find lodging, transportation and community resources
⦁ Speech-language pathologists to support your baby’s ability to suck, swallow and coordinate their lips, tongue and jaw
Our NICU was created with you in mind. From family rooms with noise-dampening ceiling tiles, soft flooring and gentle lighting to simulate an at-home experience to Versilette Giraffe beds that promote bonding and natural, peaceful healing, we’ve worked hard to tend to every detail. Our monitoring systems also link with electronic medical records for precise tracking and accuracy—and your peace of mind.
Our state-of-the-art AngelEye CameraSystem™ also provides a way for you to see your baby onscreen, even when you can’t be there in person. This web-based technology brings livestreaming video to family members anywhere, anytime via a computer, tablet or phone.
If you’re here from out of town and need a place to stay while your baby is in the NICU, our social workers can refer to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Southwest. Located in Lubbock, Texas, the Ronald McDonald House serves as a “home-away-from-home” for families of critically ill children who are receiving medical treatment in local hospitals. More than 400 families are served by the Ronald McDonald House each year.
